Carbon Smart Winchester programme: Two Hoots Campsite
Two Hoots Campsite is part of the businesses that benefited from the Winchester City Council support programme.
Caz and Dave, owners of the Two Hoots Campsite, purchased a small five touring van campsite and changed the name to Two Hoots. Quickly they gained planning permission, added four Eco Friendly Camping Pods giving a distinctive appeal for a cosy get-away. A recent addition is the utility building for toilets, showers & kitchen room, great for the greener camper travelling light.
Two Hoots Campsite collaborate with many local businesses including eateries & have incorporated many environmental practices including both PIR & LED lighting, some solar lighting without much outside lighting enabling all to enjoy the night sky. In addition to this they have added many other energy saving devices & practices such as A rated appliances, metered electric for the touring vans, push taps & token timers for the showers.
Two Hoots have planted native hedges & trees, and installed bird, bat and bug boxes within their cops to help maintain the natural insect predators and aid nature.
Two Hoots have gained the Gold level Certification award from the Carbon Smart Winchester programme because of their continuous carbon reduction, active environmental management and innovative ideas for reducing resource use.
