Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) –

A post-Brexit analysis

Under MEES, from 1 April 2018, all new lettings and lease renewals for domestic and commercial properties must have an EPC rating of ‘E’ or better. From 1 April 2020 (domestic) and 2023 (commercial), MEES extends to all existing leases.

What impact therefore will Brexit have upon MEES? With the impact of MEES likely to be significant, we aim to address this question and the broader MEES impacts.
