Employee engagement and behaviour change are the single largest untapped opportunity in many organisations. We are passionate about supporting our clients to take these opportunities and to inspire action in this critical area, we have launched a guide called ‘Empower Change’, written by our Associate Director, Adam Woodhall.
The guide has received excellent testimonials, including Mike Barry’s, Director of Sustainable Business (Plan A) at M&S: “Employee engagement is crucial to building a sustainable business. There is a growing body of literature on how to engage but little as practical and down to earth as Woodhall’s work.”

The Empower Change guide and our Smart Change service to support organisations with employee engagement were launched at an event we recently held at the showroom of the sustainability pioneers, Interface Carpets.
There were over 50 attendees from a broad range of organisations such as Prudential Insurance, EDF Energy, Investec, PwC, BBC, Allianz Insurance, Adnams Brewery and the City of London.
Five speakers shared their experience of empowering change in their organisation over the course of an hour, chaired by Carbon Smart’s MD, Ben Murray. Attendees observed that the talks gave a rich tapestry of examples to understand how to make change happen in organisations. Highlights were Mat Roberts talking about how he had demonstrated the value of sustainability in Interserve and Audun Clark sharing a great story about how a colleague at Tesco’s had driven carbon reductions.
Adam Woodhall opened and closed the event, with interactive presentations to encourage attendees to think about what change means to them and highlighting the Smart Change process.
