November 2009 - Carbon Smart clients win environmental awards

Taking action on climate change and improving your organisations environmental performance will have a great impact on your businesses reputation. Building on this improved reputation is paramount. This year Carbon Smart has helped many of its clients win or be short-listed for national and regional environmental awards.


Carbon Smart has helped many of its clients improve their environmental performance. In some cases our clients have gone the extra mile and been shortlisted for national and regional awards. For example, in October CTS Sales & Service were awarded the highly commended certificate at the prestigious Thames Gateway Business Awards 2009. Entering the category for Green Business, CTS Sales & Service came 2nd out of 13 finalists who were selected for their pro-active approach to environmental sustainability. “Since engaging with Carbon Smart we have been working hard to reduce our carbon footprint" said partner Steve Crocker, adding “we looked at the business as a whole and made significant changes to minimise our impact on the environment.” Speaking at the award ceremony, Louise Peeling said that she was "proud to receive the highly commended certificate for CTS Sales & Service" and "it was great that the judges had recognised what smaller companies with limited resources can achieve”.


Indeed, many other clients have also received recognition for the actions they have taken over the last year. These include Rathbone Brothers PLC, Office Friendly Dealer Association (OFDA) and Paper Round. Rathbone Brothers PLC was shortlisted for the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) annual reporting awards. Last year we help Rathbones with the full carbon reporting cycle from collection of the data required, to production of the final environmental section of the annual report. OFDA were shortlisted for the European office products environmental award and were more recently shortlisted for the Armey Environmental Impact award in Sheffield. Carbon Smart has helped OFDA build and deliver their members environmental programme over the last two years. Closer to home, our sister company Paper Round won the Bet Green Business at the Thames Gateway Business Awards 2009 and were highly commended as the Best Environmental Business of the year at the Archant Environmental awards.
