Process
Carbon Smart have worked with Threadneedle for three years to help them measure their carbon footprint, and identify opportunities for making environmental improvements. The calculation process initially focused on the key metrics of energy consumption of Threadneedle’s business functions. After two years improving their data quality, Carbon Smart were able to work with Threadneedle to expand the reporting scope to include business travel. The results of the carbon footprint are used to set environmental targets for the year ahead, and ensure Threadneedle’s active program of improvements remains on track, and ambitious in scope.
Success
Despite significant business growth, Threadneedle have reduced their absolute carbon emissions by 7% since 2007. Environmental measures are thriving at Threadneedle, with a zero-to-landfill waste scheme being implemented this year, a new travel policy undergoing implementation, and they have achieved ISO 14001 re-certification. They have received a Platinum City Award for their environmental efforts.
