Award after award!

We’ve won another award! The regional winners for this year’s Chamber Awards have been announced and our  So-Go-Eco programme that we run in collaboration with the Office Friendly Dealers Association (OFDA) has won a sustainability award.

The So-Go-Eco programme involves Carbon Smart and OFDA working closely with small and medium-sized businesses, helping them become greener and more profitable. This includes calculating a carbon footprint and setting achievable targets for environmental performance so the businesses can become Carbon Smart Certified.

On average OFDA members have saved £2,819 over one year on the So-Go-Eco Programme. One OFDA member company with just 22 staff saved £17,468 in the first year alone! Since 2008 the So-Go-Eco programme has improved the environmental performance of more than 86 OFDA members, focusing on energy consumption, fleet vehicles and waste management.

The Chamber Awards were launched by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) in 2004 to recognise and celebrate business excellence through the successes and achievements of Accredited Chambers of Commerce and their members. Winning the sustainability award for the Yorkshire and Humberside area means that we are automatically short-listed for the national award.

This award is the latest in a growing list for Carbon Smart. Our innovative So-Go-Eco programme also recently got through to the final stage of the 2011 National Business Awards. To get to this stage in the ICAEW Sustainability Award category representatives from Carbon Smart and OFDA had to present to a Dragon’s Den-style panel of judges about how they have demonstrated a company-wide commitment, a proven case for sustainability and also how they’ve encouraged their clients to be more environmentally conscious.

Yet another recent success for Carbon Smart is that our clients Aegis have won ‘Best sustainability and stakeholder disclosure’ by a FTSE 250 company in the annual ICSA Hermes Transparency in Governance Awards. Winners were announced at the ICSA Awards 2011, a prestigious black-tie dinner on Wednesday 16th November 2011 at the Brewery in London. As these shortlists are chosen by an independent panel and no nominations are accepted, this is a major accomplishment as it serves as an independent validation of their reporting approach.  This is the third year one of our clients has been nominated in this category, and we’re delighted to be able to support our clients in achieving award-worthy reporting.

Following this event, the Chamber Awards winners will be announced on Thursday 24th November at a gala dinner at the newly refurbished Grand Connaught Rooms, one of London’s most prestigious venues. Keep your fingers crossed for us – and keep an eye on our news feed to find out what happens!
